Money, Money, Money In the Bank...

McKade loves money. He is learning the value of money. He doesn't want to just go spend his money and actually he begs to go put it in the bank. I think it's great! One of the things McKade has been doing is little by little collecting each type of bill. Of course he started with a $1 bill. Then it was a $2 bill. Then a $5, $10, $20....now his allowance is nowhere near that amount. What he would do is keep saving his money and as soon as he had enough $1 bills he would trade them in for a $5...and then when he would get like three $5bills he would trade two in for a $10 and so on. Well he really, really, really wanted a $50 bill but he wasn't earning enough money to trade in for that. So when Amanda and I decided to have a Prim & Proper Porch Sale, we asked him if he wanted to have a bake sale. He was so excited! My mom helped him make goodies galore....however, McKade kept insisting he was going to earn $50 and my mom patiently was trying to explain that he would probably only make a few dollars. Boy were we all wrong!

Because how can you resist not buying a goodie from this little guy!?
Cupcakes and Monster Cookies $0.50
Heart Shaped Brownies $0.50
Snickerdoodles 3 for $1.00

It was rare that anyone didn't stop on their way out off the porch to buy a little goodie or two from our little salesman! And we noticed that if someone didn't find a cute decor item from us to buy that they would almost always stop and buy something from McKade. He was so patient too. It was cold outside...there were slow times every now and then but he sat there for a solid 4 hours without complaining and diligently sold his goodies. He never asked us once to take over his bake stand so he could go inside. What a trooper!
Already by 1:30 he had sold about $45.00 worth of stuff.

One of the preschool moms read about our porch sale on my mom's facebook and that there would be a little boy selling baked goods...and as a smart mom would do she marched her kids up to the sale, let them pick out something yummy, sat them down, and did her shopping. Arent they the cutest? We thought so!

My mom also had made two little pillows to sell and she let McKade take the profit of those. So this little entrepreneur's (pretty sure I spelled that wrong!) grand total???

$62.50!!!!

Way to go McKade!!!

The best part of the whole day was when McKade came to Amanda and I with his stack of bills and asked so kindly if he could please trade them in for one of our $50 bills. He was so so tickled, he couldn't stop giggling. It was a grin worth capturing. Brought tears to his Gram's eyes...and I was just plain proud of my boy. He's a keeper!

Of course 10 minutes after the sale was over I had one little guy BEGGING to go put his money in the bank. I had to explain that it just wasn't open that day because it was Saturday. So guess what we did first thing after school Monday....yep, to the bank we went!

His next goal...well what do you think!? $100!
